------ Original Message --------------------------------------------------------- From:Sylvi Schmidt <schmidt_sylvi@yahoo.com> To:anil@indovisiontours.com Sent: Wednesday, January 31, 2007 5:49 PM Subject: Re: India tour Dear Anil / Namaste, I hope this email finds you well. Apologies for the rather late/delayed response. But life has just been way too busy since i/we returned home from our trip to India in May'06. I / We would like to thank you very much for organizing this 'trip of a lifetime'. We enjoyed every minute of it -- i/we were happy with the overall organization -- the hotel selection, local guides, drivers and transportation -- and effort that you and your team (local/regional representatives) have put into making this trip unforgettable. And should we plan a trip to India in the future (or know of friends you who do), then we will certainely be back in touch and rely on your services. I/We would hereby wish you all the best for the future & continued success. In the meantime, have a nice remainder of the day. Kind Regards, Sylvi & Allen
Hi Anil
----- Original Message --------------------------------------------------------- From:ROY MAY <roy.may@btinternet.com> To:anil@indovisiontours.com Sent: Sunday, December 10, 2006 3:58 PM Subject: The May's Tour in India Dear Anil Yadav Can we just start by saying we had the most wonderful time in India and thought your company did a superb job in organising a magical tour. A special thank you to Shri our driver who is a most delightful young man who really looked after us. We have put some comments in red under each heading below. 22 NOV : ARRIVE DELHI AT 0125 HRS On arrival, meet and assist at the airport and transfer to Hotel Connaught. Thanyou to Saresh for meeting us and driving us to the Connaught. Afternoon, city tour of New Delhi.Visit Humayun's Tomb : built in mid 16th century this is an early example of Mughal architecture ; Qutab Minar drive past India Gate, President House and other govt. buildings. The tour ends with a visit to Laxmi Narayan Temple (Birla Mandir). 23 NOV : DELHI After breakfast, visit Old Delhi. Visit Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India. Built by Shah Jahan, the construction was started in 1844 and was not completed until 1658 ; Red Fort, which was also built by Shah Jehan. This massive fort was built from 1638 to 1648 ; Chandni Chowk and Rajghat - the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi. Overall this tour of Delhi was excellent with a very knowledgeable guide. The Connaught is not the best hotel in the world but adequate for our needs. The food was OK and it was of course very central to Connaught Place, which we really enjoyed. Your tip of spending my birthday dinner at the ITC Shangri-La was a good one although we ended up in the Pavilion restaurant because the main restaurant was full. The Pavilion was great they did a birthday cake etc and the manager really did a good job - wonderful food. We noted that some of the 5 Star hotels were rather isolated so in all we were pleased with the Connaught. Afternoon, free. 24 NOV : DELHI-MANDAWA (250 KMS, 06 HRS DRIVE) After breakfast, leave for Mandawa. Arrive Mandawa and check in at Hotel Castle Mandawa * *. What a fantastic Hotel and place. I think we would have liked to have stayed a couple of days here had we known how good it was. Excellent guide. Afternoon, visit Mandawa (Shekawati region). This region came into prominence in the 14th century when a number of Muslim clans moved into the area and the towns of this region developed into important trading posts on the caravan routes emanating from the ports of Gujarat. This region is famous for painted havelis (houses) most of which date back from the 18th century. The major towns of interest are Mandawa, Fatehpur, Nawalgarh. Visit the havelis in Mandawa and other villages of Shekhawati region. 25 NOV : MANDAWA-SAMODE-JAIPUR (180 KMS, 04 HRS DRIVE) After breakfast, leave for Jaipur. Enroute visit Samode. My wife Jan had just read the book "Far Pavilions" and as you know this is where the film was made. Stunning place, we had a good guide called Gopi who showed us round and obviously loved the place as well. Had it been possible we would have liked to have stayed here. Continue drive to Jaipur - The city owes its names, foundation and its careful planning to the great warrior - astronmer Maharaja Jai Singh II. In 1727, with Mughal power on the wane, Jai Singh decided to move down from his hillside fortress at neaby Amber to a new site on the plains. He laid out the city, with its surrouding walls and six rectangular blocks, according to the principles of town planning set down in Shilpa Shastra, an ancient Hindu treatise on architecture. Arrive Jaipur and check in at Hotel Park Plaza. Very good modern hotel with good food and a great bar. 26 NOV : JAIPUR After breakfast, excursion to Amber Fort. Elephant ride from the foothills of the Aravallis to the fort entrance. Amber Fort : At a distance of 11 kms from Jaipur, Amber was the ancient capital of Jaipur state. Construction of the fort began in 1592 by Raja Man Singh, the Rajput commander of Akbar's army and is a superb example of Rajput architecture. Afternoon, city tour of Jaipur. Visit the City Palace which has museum having an extensive collection of art, carpets, enamel ware and weapons ; Jantar Mantar - the observatory built my Maharaja Jai Singh in 1728 and the façade of Hawa Mahal. What a fantastic place, we loved it all. We were so taken by the "Palace of the Winds" (built for the women) that we bought a carpet signifying this design. The elephant ride up to the City Palace was marvellous and what a view from the top. 27 NOV : JAIPUR - RANTHAMORE NATIONAL PARK (180 KMS, 04-05 HRS DRIVE) After breakfast, leave for Ranthambore National Park - Located at the junction of the Aravalli and Vindhya hill range, This is one of the finest places to view animals, especially as they are used to being stared at here. The park covers an area of Approximately 400 sq Km and if combined it with the area of sawai man singh sanctuary area,it is around 500 Sq km. Ranthambore national park was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1957 and in 1974 it gained the protection of "Project Tiger". Arrive Ranthambore and check in at Hotel Tiger Moon. Afternoon, jungle safari inside the park in a jeep. Three safari's and saw no tigers, still we saw the BBC film at Tiger Moon. Very friendly staff but as Shri knows, I was not happy about having to do two of the safari's with 6 tourist passengers, a guide and a driver all in one jeep. I was wedged in between two of the largest German guys on this planet. Joking aside this is a marvellous place with plenty of other wild life to see. 28 NOV : RANTHAMBORE NATIONAL PARK Morning and afternoon, jungle safari inside the park in a jeep. 29 NOV : RANTHAMBORE- FATEHPUR SIKRI - AGRA (325 KMS, 07-08 HRS DRIVE) After breakfast, leave for Agra. Enroute visit the abandoned Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri : built by Emperor Akbar in 1569, was the old capital of the Moghuls, which was abandoned after 15 years due to scarcity of water. See the graceful buildings including the Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisti, Panch Mahal & other Palaces which are still preserved in its original glory. Another great place with an excellent guide but now some of the places are starting to look the same, didn't we do the Jama Masjid in old Delhi? Continue drive to Agra. Arrive Agra and check in at Hotel Holiday Inn. Holiday Inn was fine, food OK. 30 NOV : AGRA-DELHI (203 KMS, 04-05 HRS DRIVE) After breakfast, city tour of Agra. Visit Red fort, which was built by Emperor Akbar in 1565, and additions were made up until the time of his grandson, Shah Jahan. It contains the hall of public and private audiences amongst many other beautiful structures; Itmad-ud-daulah, which was contructed by Nur Jahan between 1622 and 1628 and is very similar to the tomb she constructed for her husband, Jehangir, near Lahore in Pakistan; the highlight of the day - The Taj Mahal, which was constructed by Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Contruction of the Taj began in 1631 and was not completed until 1653. Yes this really has the Wow factor. Didn't Shah Jahan have a nasty son! Afternoon, leave for Delhi. Arrive Delhi and check in at Hotel Connaught. 01 DEC : DELHI-GOA (FLIGHT, IT 203, 0950-1355 HRS) After breakfast, transfer to the airport to board flight for Goa. On arrival in Goa transfer to Dona Sylvia Beach Resort. As you know we changed the flight to Spice Jet so we could fly direct without going via Mumbai. Good plane new 737/800 and good service. 02-06 DEC : GOA Days free. We loved Goa and excellent way to chill out after being on the road. The Dona Sylvia Hotel complex was fine, clean large pool, bungalow type accommodation again clean and functional. The bed and breakfast aspect was fine for us since there are many places to eat outside the complex all reasonably priced. The D/Sylvia was close to the beach (40km long) and the beach shacks are all very good supplying cheap drinks and excellent sea food. Go for the "Shade Shack" run by Rossario - excellent. If you buy the odd drink you don't pay for sun beds. Not many sellers on the beach compared to our bus trip to Paloleum beach in the south. A word to your future clients in Goa - you can hire motor bike/scooters but you must have an International driving licence, otherwise the police hit you with a large fine despite what the hirers tell you. We swam in the sea mainly which was lovely and warm but be careful of the occasional undercurrent, it pays not to go out of one's depth. 07 DEC : GOA-DELHI (IT 206, 1435-1950 HRS) After breakfast, free. Afternoon, transfer to the airport to board flight for Delhi. Arrive Delhi and have dinner in a restaurant. After dinner, transfer to the international airport to board flight back home in the early hours of 08 Dec. Thank Shri for picking us up at the domestic airport, we were 60mins late arriving. Thank you for taking us to the "Broadway Restaurant" in Old Delhi what a marvellous place, this really rounded off the holiday. We didn't expect that Indovision would be paying for the meal, thankyou. All the food we had on this trip was very good, this included the lunch places that Shri took us to during our transits. Yes we felt a bit queasy sometimes but from my experience of world travel "first sign take an Imodium", this worked for us and hopefully anyone who might read this one day. One other thing we hardly saw a mosquito. We had a fantastic time made possible by Indovision Tours Pvt. Ltd who may now receive a few calls from our friends. Love to Shri and his family. We will be back. Best Regards Roy & Janet May roy.may@btinternet.com ROY.MAY@terra.es |
