Dwarka is one of the most holy Hindu pilgrimage sites in India and is closely related to Krishna legend. It was here that Krishna set up his capital after fleeing from Mathura. Dwarkanath, the name of the main temple here.

The temple is open only to Hindus, but the exterior, with its tall five storey spire supported by 60 columns is far more interesting that the interior. Archeological excavations have revealed five earlier cities at the site, all now submerged.
