The tiny picturesque town of Bundi is one of the unexplored cities with a rich historical wealth. Once of part of Kota, it was ruled by Hada Chauhans – an offshoot of the famous Chauhan clan who ruled Delhi & Ajmer.

Bundi is surrounded by the Aravallis hills on three sides and is circumscribed by a massive wall with four gateways. Interesting monuments including impressive medieval forts, palaces, havelis along with picturesque lake in the heart of the town, add to its charm.

Places of Interest
Taragarh Fort
This was built in 1354 A.D and is one of the most impressive forts of Rajasthan. Inside is a huge reservoir which once supplied water to the palace. Also notable, is the Bhim Burj, the largest of the battlements, on which is mounted the famous cannon.

Palace
The palace is a superb example of Rajput architecture housing some of the superb Bundi murals. Only two parts of the palace, knows as Chitra Mahal and Ummed Mahal are open to public and the rest of the palace, which houses the bulk of absolutely superb Bundi murals is closed to public.

Nawal Sagar
An artificial lake, at the centre of which is a temple dedicated to Varuna, the Aryan god of water.

Baoris
Bundi has a coupe of beautiful boaris (stepwells) and the most impressive of these is the Ranijiki Baori which is 46m deep and has superb carving and is the largest of its kind. It was built in 1699 by Rani Nathavatji.

Nearest airport is Jaipur (206 kms).

By Train
Kota (36 kms) is a convenient rail head, well connected by trains from Delhi/Mumbai.

By Road
