DAY 01 : ARRIVE DELHI
On
arrival meet and assist at the airport and transfer to prebooked
hotel.
Delhi
: India's capital & a major gateway to the country, contemporary
Delhi is a bustling
metropolis which successfully combines in its fold the ancient &
the modern. Its strategic location was one of the prime reasons
why successive dynasties chose it as their seat of power. New Delhi
also reflects the legacy the British left behind . The division
between New & Old Delhi is the distinction between the capitals
of the British & the Moghuls respectively. So, wherever the
visitor goes, he will invariably confront the citys' past.
DAY 02 : DELHI
After breakfast, half day city tour of Old Delhi.
Visit Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India. Built by
Shah Jahan, the construction was started in 1844 and was not completed
until 1658; drive past Red Fort, which was also built by Shah Jehan.
This massive fort was built from 1638 to 1648; Chandni Chowk and
Rajghat - the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi.
Afternoon, city tour of New Delhi.
Visit Humayuns Tomb : built in mid 16th century this is an
early example of Mughal architecture; Qutab Minar, drive
past India Gate, President House, Connaught Place. The tour ends
with a visit to Laxmi Narayan Temple
DAY 03 : DELHI - JAIPUR (260 KMS, 04-05
HRS DRIVE)
After breakfast, drive to Jaipur : The capital city of the state
of Rajasthan also know as "Pink City" owes its
name, its foundation and planning to the great warrior astronomer
Maharaja Jai Singh II. The city of Jaipur has broad avenues. The
city sits on a dry lake bed in a wild and somewhat arid landscape,
surrounded by barren hills surmounted by fortresses and crenellated
walls.
Upon arrival, check-in at prebooked
hotel

DAY 04 : JAIPUR
After breakfast, excursion to Amber Fort enroute witness
the façade of Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds which was
built in 1799. Amber Fort - The ancient capital of the state until
1727 when Jai Singh decided to move from his hillside fortress at
Amber to new site on the plains. The construction of this fort began
in 1592 by Raja
Man Singh, the Rajput commander of Akbar's army. The fort is a superb
example of Rajput architecture, stunningly situated on a hillside
and overlooking a lake which reflects its terraces and ramparts.
Visit the Jagmandir or the hall of victory glittering with mirrors,
Jal Mahal & temple of Kali. Ascend on elephant back,
the hill, on which the fort is situated.
Afternoon, city tour of Jaipur.
Visit the Jantar Mantar - the observatory built by Jai Singh
in 1728; the City Palace which is a blend of Rajasthani and
Mughal architecture. It also has a museum with an extensive collection
of art, carpets, paintings, enamel w a re and weapons dating back
to the 15th century.
DAY 05 : JAIPUR - FATEHPUR SIKRI - AGRA
(240 KMS, 06-07 HRS DRIVE)
After breakfast, leave for Agra. Enroute visit the abandoned
Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri : built by Emperor Akbar in
1569, was the old capita l of the M ughals, which was abandoned
after 15 years due to scarcity of water. See the graceful buildings
including the Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisti , Panch
Mahal & other Palaces which are still preserved in its original
glory.

DAY 06 : AGRA-UNCHAGAON (180 KMS, 04-05
HRS DRIVE)
We have envisaged overnight stay in Unchagaon because Agra to Corbett
is a very long drive. The other option is to drive back from Agra
to Delhi, stay overnight in Delhi and drive to Corbett the next
day.
After breakfast, city tour of Agra. Visit Red fort, which was built
by Emperor Akbar in 1565, and additions were made up until the time
of his grandson, Shah Jahan. It contains the hall of public and
private audiences amongst many other beautiful structues; the highlight
of the day - The Taj Mahal, which was constructed by Shah
Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Contruction of the Taj
began in 1631 and was not completed until 1653.
Note
: Taj Mahal closed on Fridays.
Afternoon, leave for Unchagaon. Arrive Unchangaon and check in at
Fort Unchagaon * * - The Fort Unchangaon stands tall as an
ideal gateway to Uttaranchal.
Home to the Jat rulers who rose in prominence during the decline
of Mugal Empire, it was originally made of mud, but its walls were
late replaced by brick and old building inside the fort was totally
renovated during the 1930's to give it a distinctly colonial look.
DAY 07 : UNCHAGAON-CORBETT (210 KMS, 04-05
HRS DRIVE)
After breakfast, free. Later, leave for Corbett. Arrive Corbett
and check in at prebooked
hotel.
DAY 08 : CORBETT NATIONAL PARK (START ELEPHANT
SAFARI)
Early morning after tea & cookies drive to Durgadevi with packed
breakfast this is from where the elephant safari commences. The
safari proceeds through the forests, breakfast will be served on
the way in the dense forests.After breakfast safari continues towards
Domunda, which is a merging point of two rivers i.e. Ramganga and
Mandal rivers. Lunch break at Domunda where the hot lunch will be
served after lunch safari continues and will reach the forest rest
house of Lohachowd. Chowds are grasslands and are rich in wild life
and birds.
The support team by a jeep would have reached the rest house before
your arrival so that all the basic comforts are taken care of while
the cook cooks up a hot meal and a roaring fire is started in the
fire place. Overnight at the prebooked
hotel.
DAY 09 : CORBETT NATIONAL PARK
Early morning do a safari in the chowds. Come back to the rest house
for a hot breakfast before commencing on the elephant safari once
again. Today you pass though the lush green sal forests. Reach
Maidhavan on river Mandal. Have hot lunch on the river site and
after some rest, a short hike / jeep ride to reach the forest rest
house of Kanda. This rest house is situated on the hill, which provides
a fabulous view of the park, from a height. In the evening a short
jeep safari can be done as evenings are rewarding in terms of wildlife
sighting.Overnight at the prebooked
hotel.
DAY 10 : CORBETT NATIONAL PARK
Early morning, along with packed breakfast, leave by jeep for a
safari to Dhikala, Dhikala is the core area of the park very rich
in wild life particularly in tigers, wild elephants, sambar, hog
deer, mongoose etc and reptiles like gharial & crocodiles. Breakfast
is had on the machan the watchtower, positioned over a water hole
keep an eye on the water hole for the animals. Jeep safari in Dhikala
area. Lunch in the forest rest house, After lunch drive through
the forest to kanda to Lohachowd and then via durgadevi to the Resort.
This drive again can be very rewarding. In the evening, wildlife
movie followe.Dinner.Overnight at resort.
DAY 11 : CORBETT NATIONAL PARK - DELHI
After breakfast, drive to Delhi.
On arrival, check in at prebooked
hotel.
DAY 12 : DEPART DELHI
Transfer to the airport to board your flight for onward destination.
